“Give yourself freedom to suck.”

One of my favourite quotes from Dan Nelken’s book, a Self-Help Guide for Copywriters.

For product marketers who often find themselves having to write copy, it’s a great piece of advice.

Instead of being afraid of bad ideas and what they might mean about you, embrace them as an important part of the process.

Stop aiming for perfect out of the gate. If you find yourself stuck, just try for something really bad.

“When you give yourself the freedom to suck, the chains of perfection fall off and you get to great a lot quicker (and healthier).”

I think this advice applies to more than just copywriting btw.
