There’s a really great book called “The Mom Test” written by Rob Fitzpatrick. It’s a quick handbook on how to get more valuable learning out of customer conversations.
And it has a ton of takeaways for product marketers.
One in particular is the concept of always knowing your top three questions.
As PMMs we’re in a lot of customer conversations. But we don’t always have the time to break out a huge list of questions.
The suggestion is to always know your top three at any given time. This way you can keep your conversations short and casual, while making sure you’re getting the critical information you need.
As we get back to in-person events and casual face-to-face encounters, this’ll be even more handy.
Your questions may change over time, which is great, but always know your top three.
