What goes ‘above the fold’ matters a lot
Here’s a swipe file of 50+ homepages with strong hero sections
The stats differ depending on who you ask, but one thing we can all agree on is that a large portion of your visitors never make it past your website hero.
When I say ‘hero’ I mean any content above the fold.
Everything a visitor sees at the top of your page without having to scroll.
This is the most important real estate on your homepage, so you need to be strategic about what you put here.
The best examples I’ve seen manage to include the follow three ingredients in a hero that’s clear and compelling:
1️⃣ Strong positioning. Clearly explain what your product does, who it’s for, and how it’s better than alternatives.
2️⃣ A Compelling CTA. The most important next step you want your buyer to take.
3️⃣ Social proof. Customer quotes, examples, or data that showcases your value.
